Your Relationship to Your Body and Enjoying Oral Sex

Imagery by Kaley Ross

Many women struggle to receive oral sex.

It is intimate, even more intimate than sex for many.

It is the total surrender of yourself to someone.

It is a pleasure designed to bring you into your body wholly, but what if you’re not used to being there?

Relaxing into pleasure can be incredibly complicated.

Many women have been shaped to give and then give some more.

There is an entire culture that tells her to contain her emotional self and in this pursuit of containment - the ability to relax and just be becomes hindered.

Then we have research that points to women’s sexual behaviour being largely influenced by concerns around the appearance, size, shape, taste and smell of her pussy.

So we have women who are disconnected from their bodies and the emotional electricity that enlivens them, both fundamental to the enjoyment of oral sex.

So discomfort arises.

Fear arises.

Anxiety arises.

Thoughts begin to flood and relaxing feels impossible.

So, you tug on the shoulder of your lover and tell them that you want them inside of you, because this you know. This does not make you feel so vulnerable or open the way spreading your legs and totally receiving pleasure does. You do not have to worry about how you taste or look so, you can keep incessant thoughts at bay.

But you know there is a world beyond this discomfort, your body feels it, craves it. As a woman, your point of happiness begins in how relaxed and safe you feel in your body.

So we are lead to the intimate relationship you have with yourself.

This is where sexuality really begins, on strengthening the connection you have with your body, your right to be here and take up space, to enjoy and dance in love and desire. To feel turned on just by fucking being.

Receiving becomes a practice of opening and relaxing your body, breathing through the knots and kinks of discomfort.

And when you learn how to receive in the bedroom you teach yourself how to receive outside of it.

Let your life open.
